About PPI's Energy & Environment Project

PPI's Energy & Environment Project is dedicated to the idea that abundant and affordable energy, economic prosperity, and across-the-board improvements in environmental quality are compatible goals. Achieving those goals does not require us to choose between markets and government, or between more or less regulation. We must recognize the importance of each.

Five key principles guide our work:

  1. Set realistic goals and priorities informed by sound science and economics
  2. Move decision making closer to the places where energy and environmental concerns occur
  3. Harness market forces
  4. Seek flexible means to achieve public goals, and
  5. Measure results.

The Project's work is accomplished through in-house research and analysis, which is guided by an advisory group comprised largely of former Clinton administration energy and environment officials. The Project also commissions studies by prominent thinkers and practitioners in fields related to energy and the environment.
